About Reineke

How the group grew

• 1960. Bill Reineke, Sr. opens the first store, then called Reineke Buick Oldsmobile, at 130 East Tiffin Street in Fostoria. The store moves to a larger building on the same street in 1962. He becomes a Ford dealer in 1967, and a new Ford store opens at 1303 Perrysburg Road, north of Fostoria, on January 15, 1972. That store is still there.
• 1984. The family buys Tiffin Ford Lincoln Mercury on Market Street. A Celina store, Reineke-Mitchell Ford Lincoln Mercury, stays in the family until it is sold in 1999.
• Late 1990s–2001. Collision centers open at the Fostoria and Tiffin stores. In April 2001, Tiffin Ford Lincoln Mercury moves to 2020 West State Route 18, and the original Fostoria showroom is remodeled.
• 2005–2008. Reineke Lincoln Mercury Mazda opens in Lima in 2005. A Chevrolet Buick Pontiac store opens in Upper Sandusky in 2006 and is given up during the 2008 industry restructuring. Reineke Motors, selling Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep, moves into that building the same year.
• 2009–2014. Reineke Ford Lincoln Mercury in Findlay joins in July 2009. After Ford ends the Mercury brand, the stores drop Mercury from their names. In 2011 the family adds Nissan in Lima, buys Reineke Ford Lincoln of Lima, and opens a Lima collision center. Both Lima stores are renovated by the end of 2013. A short Mazda run next to the Nissan store ends in June 2014.
• 2017. The family purchases Gene Stevens Honda in Findlay and continues the store the Stevens family had run since 1956. The next year they add Coleman RV in Toledo, and later RV locations in Tiffin and Lima.
• 2023. The Genthe organization’s Honda and Honda Powersports businesses in southeast Michigan join the family in March.

The group now sells more than 6,500 vehicles a year in Ohio and Michigan. In August 2025 the family marked 65 years in business.
